Wednesday, August 18, 2010, from Osaka Station to Hiroshima. But not with the Shinkansen, with normal lines! Obviously, I could take the train at high speed with my JR Pass. But as my fellow travelers had a working holiday visa, not a tourist visa, he was not entitled to the valuable card and had to pay full price. And of course, is very expensive.
This explains why we have borrowed the loop … and put all day to get to your destination! The problem is not really that they are slower, but rather that there are lots of matches and that unless you have a hell of timing, you lose a lot of time waiting for the train Next. Though I have identified the towns through which we had to go, not everything went as planned, and it has 8 good hours to make the trip! Quite jaded, but we can say we saw the balloons and the Japanese in their daily travels!
Obviously, this is not that day that I took many pictures, at least not during the trip. We finally arrived in Hiroshima, and we discovered the tram, which trains older seem to come from another era. As the buses in Kyoto, everyone pays the fare down. As the price depends on distance, it depends on the good faith of each to pay the correct fare, and even pay at all! It is not in France you would see a system like that ^ ^.
Last small galley to find the hostel because the fatigue of my nerves, and finally we can put luggage! Time to take a shower and dinner time arrived, so we leave to the discovery of Hiroshima by night.
We joined the city center via the Heiwa Kinen Koen (Peace Memorial Park or in English), with its lighted dome was reflected in the water. We then arrived in Hondori, the main shopping street of the city. We’ve had no trouble finding a nearby restaurant okonomiyaki, a specialty of the corner (but suddenly I did not even tasted those fashionable Osaka!).
After dinner, we met by chance two of the boys in my group ALJ. I knew they had also left for Tokyo in the next corner, and then the city is not great, but still, had to do to pass the bar where they were and see them! So, we drank a nice little beer to end the day! And then in Japanese bars, you can smoke!
Back at the hostel and sleep, another long day (and lots of shika!) awaited us the next day. I had a great first impression of Hiroshima, and was subsequently confirmed!
